A congested nose can be frustrating to deal with especially when you have trouble breathing and feel fatigued from your symptoms. A congested nose is the result of inflammation of the blood vessels in the lining of your nasal passages. When this lining is inflamed it causes mucous to build, which is why you find it so hard to breathe through a stuffy nose. This inflammation can be caused by a number of factors, cold or flu, workplace dust and fumes, environmental, some sporting activities, snoring, airline travel and allergies such as hay fever.
Nasal decongestants are readily available, however many of these products may actually worsen your situation, as while they produce immediate relief , this is often due to chemicals that act to constrict the inflamed blood vessels. Often the relief is short term and congestion may be even worse, due to the further irritation of the nasal passage – or a rebound effect.
An alternative way to unblock a stuffy, congested nose is by using your MEB inhaler.
